DO you use soap or shampoo to clean your genital area?

Cause a nurse friend of mine said that i should clean my member with only water, i always use shampoo... i dont believe that water can clean as well as shampoo or soap.

She said that guys and girls have to wash the genital area only with water, to prevent ph problems and infections.DO you use soap or shampoo to clean your genital area?
I have a highly sensitive ';hoo-hoo';, so I use Summer's Eve hypo-allegernic , sensitive skin feminine wash. I can NOT use regular soaps or shampoos - the chemicals, coloring and fragrances would wreak havoc for me! I would agree with your nurse friend, all of these chemicals can mess up the PH levels in your genital areas - so be careful. At least use a hypo-allergenic substance if you feel the need to soap up down there.DO you use soap or shampoo to clean your genital area?
i have used both but water is main thing to rinse real good and dry real good
i just use water mostly, sometimes body wash
I use both, first I use soap, then I use shampoo.
Whether you are taking a bath or a shower, just water will do the trick. There will be some residual soap on your wash cloth or whatever, but you don't have to use soap because it can cause irritation and urinary tract infections, especially in young girls.
I use a little soap on the outside, but not on the inside because I'm prone to infections.
I like dove soap.
um okay that's sick to share with us about you.
What are you kidding us? Your supposed to dust off the area with a light sprinkling of baking powder, this absorbs odors....wait ten minutes and blow dry off......only wash the area with a lye, perfume free soap...Ivory is good. Insure you Pat dry with a towel and don't be rough. Use a douche once a month if you are excessively sexually active.

As for your nurse friend.....go into her office at work , while she is there and ask all of her co-workers this same question, very loudly because you want a second opinion.

Good Luck.
You should always use soap and water to wash away any infectious organisms. I'm in nursing school now and that's what they are teaching. Water doesn't clean-with the soap it does. Shampoo and condition the hair down there if you wish after soap and water. That feels good, too.

It's just like rinsing your hands or soaping up your hands before you eat.
never ever use soap/shampoo to clean your genitals!Water is enough if you do it properly.Soap or shampoo (particularly in women) will change the conditions of that area that your natural flora survive in.They die out and leave you susceptible to infections. This is more the case with women but in males it can have similar affects. Also soap and shampoo are not designed for these extra sensitive areas and could leave a nasty rash or some adverse side affect
I use Oil of Olay Body Wash to clean there.
the mildest shampoo's jonson or other baby products.
I alternate. Why not get the best of both worlds?
i think she means its not good to put shampoo directly into that area...but water is fine, it will still get cleaned.
umm Summer's eve.. sensitive and makes yu smell good i dont think waters enough but hey maybe for some people it is
